Renewable and Sustainable Energy Systems Lab
Dr. Hakkaki-Fard is an assistant professor in the School of Mechanical Engineering, head of the Renewable and Sustainable Energy Systems (RASES) lab and memebr of the research chair of the novel energy systems at Sharif University of Technology.
Dr. Kazemzadeh is a professor in the School of Mechanical Engineering, head of the School of Mechanical Engineering and memebr of the research chair of the novel energy systems at Sharif University of Technology.
Mohammad Hossein received his B.Sc. degree in mechanical engineering from Shiraz University, Iran. He then obtained his M.Sc. degree from the same university. He started Ph.D. at Sharif University of technology in Spt. 2016. He has experience in commissioning and maintenance of power plants. His research interests include renewable energy, energy conversion, numerical modeling of heat and mass transfer problems as well as fluid-structure interactions. His hobbies include playing volleyball, calligraphy and listening to music.
Mohammad reza received his B.Sc. in mechanical engineering specialized in fluid dynamics and energy conversion from SUT in 2013. Due to his interest in energy, environment and economy he pursued his studies in Energy systems engineering, and received his M.Sc. in energy engineering specialized in energy technologies in 2016 from SUT. His master thesis was about developing a conceptual heat recovery method from gas and particles mixture (particle-laden flow) at high temperatures in steel industry. He started Ph.D. at SUT in Sept. 2017. He is highly interested in the areas of modeling and optimization of energy and mass flow in energy systems, heat recovery in energy intensive industries and systems, waste water treatment, thermal non-thermal desalination technologies. As extracurricular activities, he plays basketball and football, and is a theatre actor.
Behrad received the B.Sc. and M.Sc. degrees in mechanical engineering from Amirkabir University of Technology (AUT), Tehran, Iran, in 2016 and 2018, respectively. He started his Ph.D. studies at the Sharif University of Technology in Spt. 2018. He has experience in HVAC design. His research interests are Multi-Phase Flow, Renewable Energy and Computational Fluid Dynamics.
Mohammad obtained his B.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering from Yazd University in August 2016. Currently, Mohammad is a M.Sc. student at the School of Mechanical Engineering at Sharif University of Technology at the RASES lab. His current research involves numerical simulation of ground heat exchangers and exergy analysis of ground source heat pumps. Other than his academic life, Mohammad enjoys football and swimming.
Ali received his B.Sc. degree in Mechanical Engineering from Ferdowsi University of Mashhad (FUM), Iran in 2017. He is currently a M.Sc. student in Mechanical Engineering-Energy Conversion at Sharif University of Technology (SUT), Iran. His research interests focus on photovoltaic thermal (PVT) systems, nanofluids, thermodynamic analysis of the solar systems and biofluid.
Mohammad Javad is a M.Sc. student at Sharif University of Technology. He received his B.Sc. in mechanical engineering from Babol Noshirvani University of Technology in September 2016. He has been active in the fields of heat transfer, cavitation phenomenon and cavitation tunnel construction. Now he is studying application of ejector cooling system in vehicles.
Javid received his B.Sc. in mechanical engineering from Urmia university in July 2018. He started his M.Sc. studies at Sharif University of Technology in Sept. 2018. Javid is interested in CFD simulation and thermodynamic analysis of engineering systems. Currently, he is working on supersonic ejectors for refrigeration applications.
Ali received his B.Sc. degree in mechanical engineering from Shiraz University, Iran, in August 2018. He is currently a M.Sc. student in Mechanical Engineering-Energy Conversion at Sharif University of Technology, Tehran, Iran. Due to his interest in renewable energies, he did research on solar energy during his undergraduate studies and his current research is on numerical modeling of ground-coupled heat pump systems.
Hassan obtained his B.Sc. in Mechanical Eng. from Bu_ali sina Uni. in 2011, and his M.Sc. from SUT in 2013. His B.Sc. thesis was chosen and awarded as the best thesis in mechanical engineering by the Iranian society of mechanical engineers (ISME). After graduation, he spent a few years working as a design engineer and a researcher. He has the experience of working on different heat exchangers, cooling towers, wind tunnel, wind turbine system, solar water heater system, and PV systems. Also he has collaborated in Solar Energy Conversion Technologies Laboratory, Sharif Energy Research Inst. (SERI) as a research assistant and supervised a number of projects on heat pipe heat exchangers and solar desalination systems. In addition he won the silver medal in Mechanical Olympiad in National academicals poll in 2011.
Mr. Massoud Ebrahimi Dehshali is a Research Assistant of Mechanical Engineering at the Sharif University of Technology. After graduation on Jan. 2015, he has continued his research on heat transfer fundamentals, and on Sep. 2017, he has joined the RASES lab. His research interests are in the areas of two-phase flows, building heating and cooling, and fluid flows. Massoud's research is targeted at a fundamental understanding of thermal-fluid transport phenomena with applications in electronics cooling, air conditioning, water, and environmental protection.
Pouria is a B.Sc. student at Sharif University of Technology. He has joined RASES lab since 2017. His B.Sc. thesis is about Enhancement of Pool Boiling Heat transfer. Also, he is working on an ejector refrigeration cycle. His research interests lie in the areas of two-Phase Flows, heat Transfer and renewable energy. Moreover, in his free time, he prefers to play basketball, listen to music, and read a book.
Alumni
Farid received his BSc. in Mechanical Engineering from University of Tabriz in July 2015. He desired to continue his studies in fluid mechanics. He started his graduate studies as a M .Sc. student at Sharif University of Technology in September 2016, by joining RASES lab. His current research involves CFD simulation and shape optimization of supersonic ejectors for refrigeration systems.
Amin is M.Sc. student at Sharif University of Technology. He liked physics since high school and because of that, he chose mechanical engineering as his major to follow this passion in more practical way. He received his BSc. in Mechanical Engineering from Tehran University in September 2016. Having a passion for environment, he desired to continue his studies in renewable energies field that combines his care for environment with engineering. His current research involves evaluating geothermal vertical boreholes filled with zeotropic mixtures in heat pump applications.
Dr. Mohsen Saffari Pour is a Postdoctoral Researcher in the School of Mechanical Engineering at Sharif University of Technology. He received his Ph.D. in 2016 from KTH Royal Institute of Technology, Stockholm, Sweden. His doctoral research was mainly focused on industrial combustion in steel industry and coupling of chemical reactions with CFD simulations. Since June 2016, he was a Postdoctoral researcher in KTH and had a research position in R&D department of FlaktGroup Company. During this period he was a supervisor for Master and PhD students for CFD simulations in various industrial projects in KTH and a researcher for design of Rotary Heat Exchangers (RHE) in FlaktGroup. His main fields of interest and expertise are Fluid Dynamics, CFD, Combustion, Thermodynamics, Turbulent Reacting Flows, Thermo-Fluid Processes, Heat & Mass Transfer, Numerical Methods & Modeling.
Mohamad received his B.Sc. degree in Mechanical Engineering from the Sharif University of Technology. He is interested in Fluid Mechanics and Heat Transfer and their contribution in diverse areas using numerical, experimental and analytical approaches. By joining RASES lab from Sep. 2016 to June 2017, he developed a thermodynamic model of Solar Powered Ejector Cooling System for Iran's climate as his B.Sc. project. He joined the University of Illinois at Chicago as a Ph.D. student in Sep. 2017 studying wettability involving the interaction of fluids with solid surfaces.
Seyedsajad earned his B.Sc. at Sharif University of Technology and joined the RASES group in Sept. 2016. As his B.Sc. project, he generated a thermodynamic model for Solar Powered Ejector Cooling Systems suitable for Iran's climate. Now he is a Ph.D. student in mechanical engineering at Rutgers, the State University of New Jersey.
Zagros received his B.Sc. degree in mechanical engineering. Currently, he is M.Sc. student in energy conversion at Sharif University of Technology. Due to his passion for renewable energies, he joined the Sharif RASES Lab in 2016. Currently he is conducting some research on geothermal and solar energies and hybrid systems of these forms of energies. He is also interested in energy storage technologies like pumped-storage hydroelectricity and phase-change material.
