Mathematics
is a difficult subject to learn. Your complete attendance in all class sessions and working on as
many exercises as you can, are essential for you to understand the material in addition to passing
the course successfully.
-
I highly
welcome your contribution to class discussions. Please share with me any difficulties or concerns
you have; to the extent that my ability, time, and knowledge permits, I will try to resolve your
difficulties.
-
If there
are particular scientific problems you want me to discuss during class sessions, please tell me
about them by personal talk, via email, etc. To the extent that class time and scope permits, I will
try to have discussions about them.
-
Please
attend the class on time and be prepared to be in the classroom for the whole duration of class;
please avoid coming late and leaving early as your movement in the class will cause other students
to lose concentration on class discussions, and it will take some time before they get their
concentration back.
-
Please turn
your cellphone, pager, watch, and any other sound-making devices off when you come to the class; the sound
will cause other students to lose concentration on class discussions, and it will take some time
before they get their concentration back.
-
Your difficulties must be resolved during my office
hours. If it is not possible for you to come during office hours, send me an email stating why you
cannot come during office hours, and we will arrange an appointment to meet at a time suitable for
both of us.
-
I have the
assumption that you understand and value academic integrity and consider it below your dignity to
violate it. Plagiarism and cheating on quizzes and exams will result in breakage of trust and
association.
-
Everyone is most welcome to attend
any of my
classes as listener, without any restriction on my part, as long as university regulations allow.
Acting as my TA
-
I highly
welcome your inclination and enthusiasm to assist me in carrying out teaching tasks. Please send me
an email stating your desire to be the TA and your reasons why your consider yourself qualified for
the job. You should obviously have already passed the course, or its equivalent, successfully in previous semesters.
-
In selection of TAs for my
classes, I strongly favor students who have attended my classes. Your
chances of being admitted as my TA are significantly higher if you have already passed a course with
me so that I know your
attitude, personality, and
work habits, to be able to determine whether we can smoothly work together.

related to the title of the seminar course is given by one of the
students, by an invited colleague, or by me.

required to present two seminars.

mandatory?
-
If you have formally taken the seminar

absence from each session.

if I attend all seminar classes but do not present any seminar?

No. You must present at least one
seminar to pass the course. The quality of your presentation, together with
