    Courses of Instruction

    Elementary and advanced courses in structural mechanics and design of steel, concrete and timber structures, including: Static's, dynamics, theory of structures, determinate and indeterminate structures, plastic and dynamic analysis and design of structures, Strength of materials, matrix, structural reliability analysis, stability design for metal structures, finite element in elastic structures, design of seismic isolated structures, inelastic analysis of structures in civil eng., design of plates and shell structures, steel and concrete design, load resistance factor design of steel structures, fracture mechanics, application of neural network in civil eng., analysis and design of offshore structures and analysis and design of tall buildings.

 

    Administrative Responsibilities

    Development of new curricula in the area of structural mechanics, including design of new graduate and undergraduate programs in civil eng. These courses include: design and analysis of tall buildings, offshore structures, elastic and inelastic behavior of shell structures, application of neural networks in civil eng..  Development and design of laboratories for strength of materials, structures, stress analysis (photo elasticity and strain gages).  Also involved in planning and structural design of earthquake laboratory, which was undertaken at the University of Houston, Northern Arizona, USA, Shiraz University (formerly Pahlavi University) and Sharif University of Technology (SUT) in Iran.

    Miscellaneous Educational Activities

    At the University of Houston, I served as the Chairman of the "World Council Student Faculty Organization devoted to Research in the Areas of Science and Technology.  In this regard, I organized yearly conferences, a sample of which was "The State of the World": “Developing the International Man”.  I was given special recognition due to my overall achievements in the personal and social arena.

    Over the years I have organized a number of conferences in the area of technology transfer, civil engineering and development. I am a common speaker at national and international forums in some of the following topics:

c)      Appropriate Technology for Developing Countries

d)      The Future of Science and Technology
