Undergraduate Program

The undergraduate students of Sharif’s Materials Science and Engineering program receive a strong education in mathematics, physics and fundamental properties and structure of different types of materials. The emphasis of program is on science, process and manufacturing methods. The students take some core-courses and selective courses including theory and laboratory ones based on their interests. Also, all students should pass a summer internship in an industry and a research project. The research projects of the students can have different fields from manufacturing processes to properties of commercial and advanced materials. The materials in the projects may be metals and alloys, polymers, ceramics, composites with different applications of transportation, communications, aerospace, electronic, magnetic, optic, bio and nano. Via this program, the students are prepared for a wide range of careers including research, development, operations and manufacturing. A significant number of students after the program of this department continue their post graduate studies in this or other materials departments of the world.
