Chairman of School of Mechanical Engineering and Professor
Professor Hossein Farrahi gained his doctorate degree at Arts et Metier Paris Tech (ENSAM) of Paris in 1985. After having spent a few months in England he returned to Iran and joined Bu-Ali Sina University. There he founded the Department of Mechanical Engineering and became Dean of the Faculty of Engineering from 1986 to 1989. In 1990 he went back to England and joined the Structural Integrity Research Institute of University of Sheffield (Sirius) where he worked alongside the late Professor Keith Miller. In 1992 on his return to Bu-Ali Sina University he expanded the Faculty of Engineering as Dean of the Faculty. Professor Farrahi joined the School of Mechanical Engineering at Sharif University of Technology in 1997 where he is currently full professor and Chairman of the School of Mechanical Engineering. As Visiting Professor, he also spent a year in Department of Mechanical Engineering at Bristol University. He was also the co-founder of Golpayegan Faculty of Engineering where he was the Chairman from 2001 to 2005. During his academic carrier, he has led a number of research projects in the area of structural integrity assessment as well as publishing more than 180 papers.
